Differences Between Aluminum Magnesium Manganese Plate and Galvanized Steel Plate

Time:2022/05/24

Aluminum-magnesium-manganese plates are more and more widely used, but some customers do not know the difference between aluminum-magnesium-manganese plates and galvanized steel plates. Today we will compare them in detail from the following aspects.

Material characteristics

The aluminum-magnesium-manganese plate is composed of an alloy of aluminum, magnesium, and manganese, 99% of aluminum, and a small amount of alloy. The metal aluminum is light in weight and not easy to be oxidized. Corrosion resistance and toughness, the panels made of the three alloys have the characteristics of lightweight, corrosion resistance, and strong plasticity. The materials commonly used in aluminum-magnesium-manganese alloy plates are 3003 and 3004. Its main features are durability, lightweight, beautiful appearance, and strong corrosion resistance.

The galvanized steel plate is covered with aluminum-zinc alloy on the surface of the steel plate. It is composed of 55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc, and 1.6% silicon solidified at a high temperature of 600 degrees Celsius. Its entire structure is composed of aluminum-iron-silicon-zinc, forming a dense An alloy-coated steel sheet of quaternary crystal for corrosion resistance.

Corrosion resistance

Aluminum-magnesium-manganese plate: The main component is aluminum, which has the self-anti-rust ability. The formed oxide layer can prevent metal oxidation and rust and has good acid and alkali resistance. After the surface is treated with fluorocarbon paint, the oxidation resistance of the material itself is increased, which is better than that of galvanized steel.

Galvanized steel sheet: Protected by surface aluminum plating. When the zinc is worn away, the aluminum forms a dense layer of aluminum oxide, preventing corrosion-resistant substances from further corroding the interior.

Heat resistance:

Aluminum-magnesium-manganese has a low melting point (660 degrees Celsius), its high-temperature resistance is poor, and its strength is quickly lost above 150 degrees. When a fire occurs, the roof is easily burned through, so that the fire spreads outwards instead of laterally inwards, which helps firefighters extend fire hoses from the top to put out the fire. This roof panel can resist sparks and flames, and the metal roof panel reaches A1 class fire protection standard) thermal expansion coefficient 24cm/(cm.k.10e6), thermal conductivity 293-364W (m.k).

Galvanized steel sheet has a good heat resistance and can withstand high temperatures of more than 300 degrees Celsius.

Persistence

The biggest advantage of aluminum-magnesium-manganese used for roofing materials is that it is light in weight, does not rust, can be welded, and there is no hidden danger of water leakage on the roof. It is easy to process and form and has good corrosion resistance and aging resistance. The service life can be as long as 50 years or more in various environments.

The galvanized steel plate should be stored indoors, keep it dry and ventilated, and do not store in an acidic climate for a long time. When storing outdoors, it is necessary to prevent rain to avoid oxidation stains. Up to 15 years of service life in various environments.

Weight

Aluminum magnesium manganese plate: lightweight (density is 2730kg/m3), 1/3 of steel.

Galvanized steel sheet: heavier weight (density is 7850kg/m3)

Application

Aluminum-magnesium-manganese panels are widely used in gymnasiums, exhibition centers, villas, convention centers, factories, airports, stations, and other buildings.

Galvanized steel sheet is an alloy-coated steel sheet widely used in building materials, home appliances, automobiles, environment, machinery, ships, and many other fields.
