What are the Components of Putlog Scaffolding System?
Putlog Scaffolding System, which also known as a bricklayer’s scaffold, it involves using the wall of a structure being built as support for the working platform. Putlog scaffold is derived from old masonry: the hole in the wall of a structure under construction is where you “put the log”. Do you know what are the components of putlog scaffolding system? This article is written to give an answer.
#1 Putlog
This is a transom with a flat end on one side. The flattened end enables the putlog to rest in the hole in a wall. These are connected to the ledger or horizontal tubes with the help of a putlog or single coupler.
#2 Standards (upright tubes)
As obvious from the name, these are vertical tubes of the scaffolding system.
#3 Ledgers (horizontal tubes)
These are the horizontal tubes that help erect the scaffold. A ledger is a link between two standards. Ledger is fixed using the right angle or double coupler.
#4 Double/right angle coupler
Double couplers serve to link two tubes at an angle of 90 degrees.
#5 Single/putlog coupler
Single coupler serves as a link between putlog/transom tubes and ledger tubes.
#6 Putlog heads
The purpose of a putlog head is to turn a standard tube into a putlog, so it can be used in the scaffold system.
