What Is A Lateral Tee?
A lateral tee is one kind of pipe tee fittings, which has a 45-degree branch from a pipeline: (45° Lateral Tee). It is a kind of steel pipe tee, but the branch direction is different from the straight tee. On the contrary to the lateral tee, the straight tee has a branch pipe direction of 90 degrees to the run pipe.
Materials used to manufacture lateral tee:
#1 Carbon steel
#2 Alloy steel
#3 Stainless steel
#4 Low-temperature steel
#5 High-performance steel
Size range: 1/2 to 72 inches
Pressure: SCH5 to SCH160
Applications of lateral tee:
Lateral tees are widely used in various commercial and industrial applications.
Industrial applications include:
#1 Chemical processing
#2 Petroleum
#3 Pulp/paper
#4 Refining
#5 Textile
#6 Waste treatment, Marine
#7 Utilities/power generation
#8 Industrial equipment
#9 Automotive
#10 Gas compression and distribution industries
Pipe Tees are also recommended for industrial plant fluid power systems.
Type of the lateral pipe fittings:
Lateral pipe fittings have two types: lateral tee and platelet (also called Lateral Outlet).
The lateral tee’s shape is like a pipe tee, the butt welding lateral tees are made from steel pipes or forgings, the manufacturing standard is ASME B16.9. there is also the forged lateral tee produced refer to ASME B16.11, the ends are socket welding and threaded.
