Factors Should Be Consider When Choosing Strapping Material
When choosing strapping material, what factors should be considered? Today, we have listed five factors for your consideration.
1. Product Dimensions
When selecting strapping material, the most important factor that needs to be considered will be the product’s dimension. Some industrial companies use over-strapping to add products’ security. However, with the right-sized, proper material, we can reduce wasted material and secure loads properly.
2. Shipping Distance
During long-distance transportation, products need to be strapping sturdy to avoid movements. The more likely your products are to shift during travel, the wider the strapping you will want to use. If your products tend to settle during shipment (printed materials, for example), a polypropylene strap is an excellent option because it can stretch and maintain integrity. Polyester is less likely to stretch.
3. Tensile Strength
Tensile strength is the amount of force required to break a strap. The break strength depends upon the method of strapping, the number of straps used per load, the size of the strapping, and the overall weight of the products being strapped.
4. Method of Strapping
The method you strap your products is very important when selecting the ideal strapping material. Most heavy-duty applications are strapped manually with strapping tools.
5. Brand-new vs Recycled Strapping Material
When considering machine strapping, the best-suited strapping material must be brand-new strapping material. Brand new strapping material differs from recycled strapping material in how it's created and how it can be used. Brand new strapping material is produced purely from new polymers and practically eliminates camber. Brand new strapping material also reduces the amount of dust created by semi and automatic machines, reducing downtime and maintenance costs. Using machinery, a recycled strap will often have irregularities or camber.
